Author: WANG Ling   Editor: General Office   May 31, 2017

The Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday in China, which falls on the 5thday of May in the lunar calendar. It is usually celebrated by boat race in the shape of dragons.

The Dragon Boat Festival commemorates the great poet Qu Yuan who took suicide as an expression to the Chu Kingdom during the Warring States Period during which the internecine warfare was rampant.

It is customary to eat Zongzi, a symbol of rice offerings to Qu. The Zongzi was usually wrapped in bamboo leaves and steamed.
